De 1899 à 1901, la paroisse a été desservie en tant que mission soit jusqu'à la date de la nomination du premier curé résident. La paroisse a été érigée canoniquement le 11 octobre 1901.
En 1908, la crypte de l'église est construite d'après les plans les architectes MacDuff et Lemieux, de Montréal. Ce n'est qu'en 1929, que débutera la construction de l'église supérieure sous la supervision de l'architecte Ludger Lemieux. Elle sera terminée en 1930.
L'église prend la forme d'une crois latine avec choeur en saillie et une abside en hémicycle. Le nef possède trois vaisseaux avec double tribunes arrière et un déambulatoire. Les murs intérieurs et la voùte, en arc surbaissé, sont recouverts de plâtre. L'architecture extérieure, de pierre et en béton avec un toit recouvert de cuivre, n'a subi aucun changement significatif depuis son érection.
La décoration intérieure a été confiée à Guido Nincheri qui y a réalisé un total de 26 vitraux, certains en 1935 et les autres en 1958-59. Ces vitraux ont fait l'objet, depuis 2004, d'un projet de retauration. Le même artiste a aussi conçu et exécuté le décor peint (fresques) réalisé entre 1960 et 1961.
L'orgue
L'orgue, construit et installé par Casavant en 1930, est dans son état original. L'instrument est l'objet d'entretiens réguliers.

From 1899 to 1901, the parish was served as a mission that is until a first parish priest is permenently appointed. The parish was official established on October 11, 1901.
In 1908, the crypt of the church is built based on plans prepared by architects MacDuff and Lemieux, from Montreal. The construction of the upper church will begin in 1929, under the supervision of architect Ludger Lemieux. It will completed in 1930.
The church has the shape of a latine cross with a projecting chancel and a semi-circular apse. The nave has side aisles with double rear galleries and an ambulatory. Interior walls and the surbased-arch vault are covered with plaster. The exterior architecture, made of stone and concrete with a copper covered roof, remains unchanged since the days it was built.
The interior decoration was commissionned to Guido Nincheri who executed a total of 26 stained glass windows, some in 1935 and the remaining ones, in 1958-59. These stained glass windows are, since 2004, being restored. The same artist also designed and executed the painted decor (frescos) in 1960-61.
The organ
The organ, built and installed by Casavant Frères in 1930, has never been modified. Maintenance works are carried out regularly.
